I think we can all agree that Disney World is the most magical place on Earth. We can also agree that the most magical place on Earth requires a big budget. However, there are some ways to reduce the cost of your Disney World holiday. Here are 5 ways to do Disney World on a budget.
- Bring your own snacks
Disney World allows guests to bring in some outside snacks and non- alcoholic drinks. Meals, drinks and snacks at Disney World quickly add up during a park day, and by bringing snacks from home it can reduce the cost a lot. TIP – Remember your water bottle, you can refill it for free all day and can receive free ice water from quick service locations and snack carts around the parks.
2. Share a meal
On the topic of food, quick service meals in Disney World can be very filling. Maybe consider sharing a quick service lunch, or even opt for a child’s meal when wanting a light lunch. Children and adults alike are more than welcome to order a child’s meal from a quick service restaurant, and they can be more than enough for a portion. We have done this many times and never had a problem.
3. Choose a resort that includes transportation
Staying at a Disney World resort can be expensive, but one perk you get in return is free transportation throughout Disney World. If staying offsite, opt for a nearby hotel or one that offers complimentary transportation to the parks. A rideshare to the parks, or parking at Disney World every day quickly adds up with $30 a day parking charge. Note, if you are staying at a Disney resort you do receive standard parking for free.
4. Don’t forget the freebies
Many merchandise options in Disney World can be quite expensive. However, there are some things you can receive for free that can be treasured souvenirs. Don’t forget your celebration pin. If you’re celebrating your first visit, a birthday or any other milestone, you can receive your pin from any guest services at the parks or at the resort’s front desk. Also, if you have little ones, Kidcot at Epcot is a lot of fun for the children as they travel around all the countries of the World showcase.
5. Explore outside the parks
Purchasing a multi-day ticket to Disney World can be expensive. For your extra Disney days, consider spending a day at Disney springs or resort hopping. Anyone can tour any of the Disney World hotels. You won’t be able to have a swim but you can have a meal, have a drink in the bar and walk around the resort.
Top tip – Most resorts will not allow you to park at the hotel without a dining reservation. You may be lucky and be allowed a short time to look around, but that is very unlikely. The best thing to do is take a Disney monorail, bus, boat or skyliner to your resort of choice to be guaranteed a chance to explore.
